Old Holland Oil Color - Coral Orange, 225ml TubeSave Up to44%Off listOrange Considered one of the Finest Oil Paints In the World! Manufacturing pigments since 1664, Old Holland Classic Oil Colors are still considered today as one of the top oil paints in the world! Boasting artists like Van Gogh, Vermeer, and other Dutch Masters that used their pigments and paints, Old Holland uses only pure, cold-pressed linseed oil as a binder with the highest possible pigment loads, creating brilliantly concentrated paints that provide exceptional covering power, strength of color, and color intensity. All Old Holland Classic Oil Paints are completely lightfast except for the Madder Lakes and Cremnitz White, which are nearly lightfast. All Old Holland oils are manufactured using stone rollers only, as the colors of the paint will not change due to metal oxidations (which will alter Cadmium colors). All colors are completely free of cheap fillers and artificial dryers like other premium paints contain. Although Old Holland Oils initially may seem very expensive, the heavy concentration of pigment is actually an exceptional value, given the covering power of the paint and minimum amount needed for color mixing. One tube of their highest possible concentration of pigment equals the pigment contained in 2 to three tubes of other professional brands! Old Holland Classic Oil Colors come in 40ml and 225ml tubes. Each pure Richeson pigment is ground to its own correct degree of fineness and formulated under exacting laboratory controls. . During the manufacturing process, great care is taken to avoid overworking the pigment. The amount of time required for the milling process varies for each color – anywhere from six hours to three days. The amount of oil required for each pigment varies because each pigment absorbs at a different rate. Richeson uses only pure, artist-grade, dry pigments. The finest grade of alkali-refined linseed oil is used to make non-yellowing colors. This type of oil is well-known for its excellent color stability. “Straw" in color, the oil has a minimal effect on pigment colorization and will not darken with age. Certain colors, such as whites, flesh colors, ice blue, and brilliant yellow light, use safflower oil. With these sensitive pigments that yellow easily, safflower oil produces a much better non-yellowing color. Where appropriate, we use a blend of linseed and safflower oil, producing the best possible finished product. Click on the item number to view the contents of each set. See More

I've used all of those latter paints quite a bit, but casein has qualities all its own. It can be used transparently, but it has great opacity when you need it, something often lacking in acrylic. It's one of the oldest paint mediums, dating all the way back to the Egyptians – JAMES GURNEY" What is Casein? Casein (kay'seen) is a quick-drying, aqueous medium using a milk-based binding agent, and is one of the most durable mediums known to man. Nine thousand year old casein cave paintings have been discovered in Asia. Later, the medium was used by Byzantine, Roman and Renaissance artists, including the Old Masters. Known for their versatility and array of capabilities, casein paints can be used to create a variety of effects from the rich opaques of oil to thin watercolor washes. Because casein has an exceptional integrity of color and always dries to a perfect matte finish, it is unexcelled for art reproduction. The velvety matte finish can also be buffed to a satin sheen or varnished to produce a resemblance to oils. Over time, casein pigments become resistant to moisture and as history has proven, the medium has a durability and permanence which has easily stood the test of time. Because it dries quickly, it is possible to lay down a glaze and move onto the next stage within a few hours instead of waiting for days, or even months, as with oils. Can I mix casein with other mediums? Yes you can! Use casein over watercolor or gouache or as an underpainting for acrylic, pastel or oils. If using casein under oils, apply a barrier layer of Damar varnish over the casein before the oil paint. Casein can also be used under oils as an excellent underpainting medium. See More
