You can use the crackle medium to simulate the effects of aging. Flow Medium: an acrylic flattening agent used to level out the textural properties of Jo Sonja acrylic paint. Flow Medium is used to thin paints and other mediums. Water may dilute the paint's acrylic binder, reducing its adhesive qualities. When Flow Medium is added in small amounts, it produces a thinner, smoother paint that leaves no brush marks. Glazing Medium: A transparent acrylic glazing medium you can use alone or with Jo Sonja's Artists or Jo Sonja's Background Colours. Mix with acrylic color to seal as your basecoat or alone on raw wood as a light sealer. A coat of Glazing Medium is recommended before staining for an even application of stain. Polyurethane Varnish: Provides the toughest finish available with excellent corrosion, chemical, scratch, and wear resistance. Use indoors or outdoors to provide maximum, long-term protection. The varnish dries clear and is non-yellowing. Jo Sonja's Acrylic Polyurethane Varnishes are available in Gloss and Matte. Retarder Medium: Extends the drying time of Jo Sonja's Colours. It allows an extended working or "open" time for blending. Opal Dust: Jo Sonja's Opal Dust is a clear gel that contains tiny light-reflecting holographic particles, which create an interplay of colors reminiscent of gems. Opal Dust may be used alone or applied to a dry pre-painted surface. It is suitable for various surfaces, including paper, card, glass, transparency film, plastic, canvas, wood, terra cotta, tin, fabric, silk, or dried flowers. Mix with Jo Sonja's Artists' Colors before applying for a more subtle effect. Drying time depends upon the thickness of the application. Brushstrokes are evident when wet but disappear when fully dry. See More -

…beautiful matte finish. Made from real beeswax dissolved in the finest Portuguese Turpentine. Heat the container before using (until the contents turn clear) and then apply one thin coat - dries within minutes. Apply this varnish as a final picture varnish to thoroughly dried oil paint (6 months… Handmade Oil Colour Mediums, Carefully Crafted From The Highest-Grade Natural Materials! Rather than using toxic and unpredictable lead drying agents, Michael Harding has prepared a selection of oil, resin, balsam, and wax painting medium creations that will safely yet traditionally alter your paint film to suit your painting needs! In place of traditional sun-thickened linseed oil, Harding’s oil mediums formula utilizes the best grade viscous linseed stand oil, given its ability to self level, imparts elasticity into the paint film, and does not yellow or darken appreciably over time. Otherwise, the raw materials used are consistent with those of the past. Mediums and varnishes are available in 100ml and 250ml jars. See description tab for information on each individual medium. Dammar Glaze Medium - A traditional glaze medium (with cobalt siccative) that helps add depth and gloss to transparent colors. Known for its speedy drying time of oil colors; use with slower drying colors. Oil Painting Medium - A basic oil medium designed to ease flow and increase gloss, transparency, depth, and bedaub of the pigment color. This medium is a linseed stand oil and turpentine formulation that prevents yellowing of paint film. Resin-Oil-Wax Medium - A soft painting paste, derived from pure bleached beeswax, mixed with dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This popular medium creates a lovely satin sheen and gentle impasto in paint layers. Settling of the medium may occur - allow jar to stand in hot water and stir contents until dissolved. Oleo-Resin Medium - A historic glazing medium based on light colored Canadian balsam fused with dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This versatile medium provides high gloss levels while imparting depth to paint films. Beeswax Paste - A high oil content paste based on linseed stand oil and pure bleached beeswax. The paste increases the body of oil colors with a satin-matte finish; especially useful with opaque colors. Balsam Resin Glaze - Another historical glazing medium, it is based on Austrian Larch Turpentine (Venice Turpentine) with Dammar resin and linseed stand oil. This wonderful smelling medium is added to oil colors to enhance depth, gloss, and luster. Matte Varnish - Creates a long lasting, protective coating with a beautiful matte finish. Made from real beeswax dissolved in the finest Portuguese Turpentine. Heat the container before using (until the contents turn clear) and then apply one thin coat - dries within minutes. Apply this varnish as a final picture varnish to thoroughly dried oil paint (6 months minimum- up to 18 months if paint is very thick). Dammar Varnish - Versatile varnish that creates a subtle gloss finish. Made from the best quality dammar resin from Thailand, dissolved in double rectified Portuguese maritime Turpentine, then carefully filtered. Apply as a final picture varnish to thoroughly dried oil paint (6 months minimum- up to 18 months if paint is very thick).
