Apply the gel or paint, and while it is wet, place the image side of a printed laser paper copy directly into the wet gel. Let dry overnight. 2. Dampen the paper with a wet sponge. Wait a few minutes to allow water to soak paper. Begin rubbing carefully. Use a soft cloth or scrubbie to remove the paper. You will probably have to remove the paper a few times, for a clean transfer. When the water evaporates, you will be able to see the areas that you missed. See More

Clear Granular Gel can extend paint and add texture without altering color. Clear Leveling Gel: [formerly Self Leveling Clear Gel] produces an even film with excellent clarity. It has a unique resinous, stringy consistency resulting from its leveling property. Clear Leveling gel dries to a flexible, high gloss film while imparting a leveling quality when mixed with acrylic paint. It blends well with GOLDEN Acrylic colors to produce glazes. Clear Tar Resin Gel: GOLDEN Clear Tar Gel is a 100% acrylic polymer colorless gel with an extremely resinous, syrupy, stringy, and tar-like consistency. Clear Tar Gel can be used to generate fine, detailed lines by "dripping" it over painting surfaces. It can be blended with all GOLDEN Acrylic paints, offering a full range of colors with which to work, although Fluid Colors work best. Extra Heavy Gel (Gloss, Matte, or Semi-Gloss): Have the thickest consistency of any gel offered by GOLDEN. The gel may be blended with acrylic paint to increase the viscosity. The effect is best seen in thin films over a light color. Heavy Gel (Gloss, Matte, or Semi-Gloss): is a thick gel that may be blended with acrylic colors to increase paint viscosity. Heavy Gels are excellent for holding peaks and dry translucent. The body of the gel will remain flexible even with thick impasto work. High Solid Gel (Gloss or Matte): are similar in body to Heavy Gels. They contain more acrylic solids and shrink slightly less than other gels. They blend well with colors and will retain brush strokes upon drying. Available in gloss and matte. Pumice Gel: Available in fine, coarse, and extra coarse texture. The textured gel dries to a hard film. They mix well with GOLDEN Acrylic Colors. Coarse Pumice Gel creates more coarse textures to yield concrete-like finishes. Regular Gel (Gloss, Matte, or Semi-Gloss): Regular Gel is ideal for extending paint and regulating transparency without changing consistency. Skin contact for some people will not cause any problems, but because of the high concentration please be aware and take precautions when using Spike Oil or any other solvents. Allergies: Spike Lavender, in rare cases, can be considered an allergen, as are many essential oils like Tea Tree Oil, etc. So all products containing Spike (the solvent, mediums, and varnishes) see warnings regarding safety and clear directions for usage. The main reason this solvent is considered “safer” is because there are no known carcinogens or a lot of the health issues associated with Turpentine or Petroleum Mineral Spirits. However, like with all solvents when used in oil painting, you should have ventilation and limit skin contact. See More

Copal Painting Medium: has a resinous consistency perfect for glazing and wet-on-wet techniques. Copal painting medium is an oil paint additive that speeds drying time. Jacquard offers several necessary chemicals that complement their Acid and Procion MX dyes. Sodium Alginate SH is used to thicken dyes for painting, stamping, or screen printing. Citric Acid is a mild, odorless, powdered acid that helps fix acid dyes to protein-based fibers. Soda Ash promotes the chemical reaction between Procion MX fiber reactive dyes and cellulose fiber. The humectant Urea attracts moisture from the air and slows the tie-dye process, providing more time for the dye to process and generate deeper shades. You can use Synthrapol® an industrial-strength, pH-neutral liquid detergent as a wetting agent, or wash your decorated fabrics with it. It is essential to practice studio safety when using dyes and chemicals. Please keep dyes, paints, and chemicals away from children and avoid unnecessary skin contact. Key Features: * Powdered chemicals * Complement Acid and Procion MX dyes * Sodium Alginate SH will thicken dyes * Citric Acid is used to fix acid dye * Soda Ash is used to fix Procion MX dye * Urea enhances Procion MX colors * pH-neutral detergent and wetting agent Perfect For: * Fabric dyeing * Painting, stamping, or screen printing * Tie-dye, shibori, and ice dyeing * Low water immersion dyeing * Batik, printing, and direct painting * Direct painting or printing applications * Surface design Sodium Alginate SH: Sodium Alginate SH is a seaweed derivative used to thicken dyes for painting, stamping, or screen printing. When working with thicker fabrics, use a thinner consistency of dye solution to guarantee dye penetration. Instructions: Mix 1 quart water with ¼ cup Urea. Then, add two teaspoons Sodium Alginate SH for hand painting or four teaspoons Sodium Alginate SH for screen printing. Slowly sprinkle Sodium Alginate SH over water/Urea mix. Stir constantly for 10 minutes, or mix in a blender until smooth. Let stand for 1 hour, then stir again. The solution may be stored in a refrigerator for a few months. Soda Ash: Soda Ash dye fixer is a mild alkali that promotes the chemical reaction between Procion MX fiber reactive dyes and cellulose fiber. It is also known as sodium carbonate, washing soda, or salt soda. Soda Ash is necessary to activate and set Procion MX dye. For tie-dye (pre-soak method): Use one cup per gallon of warm water. Soak fabric in the mixture for 20 minutes. Squeeze/wring out the excess solution by hand. Do not rinse out. For immersion dyeing: Use 1/4 to 1/3 cup per three gallons of water. Add to dye bath per instructions. Dyeing cellulose fibers in a washing machine: Use 2-3 cups per load. Dissolve in one-quart hot water. Slowly add to dye bath in washer per instructions. Synthrapol®: Synthrapol® is an industrial-strength, pH-neutral liquid detergent used as a pre and after wash for dyed or painted fabrics. Synthrapol® can also be used as a wetting agent for fabric dyes and paints. The unique liquid detergent keeps loose dye pigment suspended during washing which prevents back staining and helps remove excess color. Pre wash: Prewashing fabric with Synthrapol® to remove oils, waxes, starches, and sizings helps ensure an even dye job and reduces the risk of blotchy color. Directions: Add three tablespoons Synthrapol® per 8 lb washing load. For cotton and other cellulose fibers, add two tablespoons soda ash. Wash for at least 10 minutes using hot water, and then rinse thoroughly. After wash: After dyeing or painting, rinse the fabric in cold water and then wash for at least 10 minutes using three tablespoons Synthrapol® per 8 lb wash load. Use hot water for cotton, cool to warm water for silk and wool, and then rinse thoroughly in cold water. Wetting Agent: Adding Synthrapol® to a dye bath or fabric paint can increase color penetration. When dyeing wool and other hard-to-wet fibers, add 2 to 3 drops of Synthrapol® per 5 lb fabric. To increase fabric paint coverage on hard-to-wet textiles, add 1 to 2 drops Synthrapol® per 2 fl oz of fabric paint. Citric Acid: Citric Acid is a mild, odorless, powdered acid that helps fix acid dyes and exhaust dye baths. Add one tablespoon of Citric Acid to the dye bath per 1 lb of fabric. Do not pour directly onto cloth. If further exhaustion of dye bath is necessary, add a little bit more. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. Keep out of reach of children. Urea: Urea is a humectant that attracts moisture from the air and slows the drying process; therefore, it allows more time for the dye to react with the fiber and helps develop deeper shades. Most artists use Urea when applying dye solutions directly to fabric or hand painting. Urea can be used with Sodium Alginate thickener for screen printing, direct painting, or tie-dye. Add one tablespoon Urea per 8 fl oz of dye solution (¼ cup per one quart of dye solution). See More

Gamblin Cold Wax Medium 4ozSave Up to40%Off list…thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We… True to historic working properties. Safer. More Permanent. Gamblin Oil Painting mediums offer a great deal more than simply extending oil colors. Mediums modify the working properties of oil color from the tube – from a fluid consistency for expressive mark making to a stiff paste for creating thick, crisp marks. Painting mediums also broaden the visual qualities of our colors – from increasing the transparency of paint layers, to creating a range of surface qualities, from high gloss to matte. Gamblin’s family of Galkyd painting mediums and Cold Wax Medium are formulated with Gamsol. We recommend only Gamsol for thinning these materials. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil - Processed from flax seeds. This linseed is the purest and lightest industrially produced variety. Cold Pressed Linseed Oil - Made from the first pressing of flax seeds without heat or chemicals of any kind. Cold Wax Medium - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax. Mix directly into colors. Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto. For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium. "G-Gel" - Made from alkyd resin, Galkyd Gel is a colorless oil color additive that accelerates the drying rate of oil colors and enables artists to create thick transparent paintings with a moderate sheen. Galkyd Painting Medium - Alkyd based resin painting medium that thins oil paints and maintains a strong flexible paint film. Galkyd speeds the drying rate and is excellent for glazing providing an enamel like finish. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Painting Medium Lite No.2 - This low viscosity alkyd resin painting medium is a good replacement for traditional damar/ linseed oil/ turpentine combination mediums. Galkyd Lite dries within about 3 hours to a subdued gloss, and will maintain your brush strokes. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Galkyd Slow Drying Medium - Especially formulated to thin oil colors and give painters extended working time. To use mix equal portions of medium with oil colors to paint wet for at least a day. Since this product should not be diluted you may want to purchase the larger size. Gamsol - Quality solvent and medium and for general oil painting. Gamsol is also an excellent studio and brush cleaner. Odorless Mineral Spirits -Gamsol is the safest solvent that allows oil painters to utilize all traditional painting techniques without compromise. Primary Uses for Gamsol - Thinning oil colors, Modifying painting mediums, Studio clean up.Gamsol is a petroleum distillate but all the aromatic solvents have been refined out of it, less than .005% remains. Gamvar - Conservation quality varnish for oil, acrylic and alkyd paintings. This resin varnish may be removed with a mild solvent and contains a UV stabilizer. Developed in association with the National Gallery of Art. Package makes enough varnish to cover 80 sq ft. Once varnish is applied surface will have a uniform gloss apperance. Neo-Megilp - When mixed into oil colors Neo-Megilp makes them richer and deeper and finished paintings have a luminous glow! Neo-Megilp will not darken or crack over time. For thinning, Gamblin recommends using Gamsol or a small amount of Refined Linseed Oil. Oil Painting Ground - For strong, bright foundations of oil paintings. Requires only 2 coats. Formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide and barium sulfate. Stiffer than traditional gesso. PVA Size - Use as a barrier size between linen or cotton canvas instead of rabbit skin glue. Remains flexible and won't yellow, shrink or swell. Poppy Oil - Poppy Oil's slow drying time may be useful for painters using "wet into wet" techniques. Adding 10% by volume poppy oil slows down the drying time of Gamblin Galkyd Painting Mediums. Rabbit Skin Glue - Gamblin's Rabbit Skin Glue is the traditional size for fabric support on panels. It seals porous fabric and isolates it from ground or oil paints. Stretching the canvas is easy, because the size shrinks as it dries. Safflower Oil- Gamblin's Safflower Oil is a pale, slow-drying oil. Safflower oil increases flow of oil colors and slows dry time. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount of Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying, low-viscosity painting medium. Solvent-Free Gel Medium - This unique, non-toxic blend of safflower oil and alkyd resin gives colors more flow and transparency, yet holds brushstrokes well. It has a moderately fast drying rate, increases gloss, and supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. Contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Solvent-Free Fluid Medium- Gamblin's Solvent-Free Fluid Mediumgives oil colors more flow and transparency, It has a moderately fast drying rate that increases gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, this medium is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates. Stand Oil - Vacuum bodied heavy oil which can be used in painting and glazing mediums. Dries to an enamel like finish. Traditional Gesso - Gamblin's Traditional Gesso is a dry mixture of rabbit skin glue, gypsum, marble dust, and titanium dioxide. Paintings on gesso are more matte because of the high absorbency of traditional gesso. Wax Pastilles - Small beads of naturally white unbleached beeswax.* See More

Immediately after use, the paint or varnish should be thoroughly rinsed out with the appropriate solvent..." -Ralph Mayer, the Artist's Handbook How To Use Lavender Brush Cleaner CCS Lavender Brush Cleaner™ can be used in the same way other cleaners are used: Rinse the brush with it during painting session to remove paint from brush, and thoroughly clean your brush in it after painting to remove paint and medium. We recommend using a natural oil based soap and warm water afterwards to complete the brush cleaning, moisturize the brush hairs and help preserve them. Ventilation: All essential oils/solvents should be used appropriately and with ventilation and common sense usage. Skin contact: As with all essential oils, you should always avoid skin contact, especially if you have skin issues. Skin contact for some people will not cause any problems, but because of the high concentration please be aware and take precautions when using Spike Oil or any other solvents. Allergies: Spike Lavender, in rare cases can be considered an allergen, as are many essential oils like Tea Tree Oil, etc. So all products containing Spike (the solvent, mediums and varnishes) see warnings regarding safety and clear directions for usage. The main reason this solvent is considered “safer” is because there are no known carcinogens or a lot of the health issues associated with Turpentine or Petroleum Mineral Spirits. However, like with all solvents when used in oil painting, you should have ventilation and limit skin contact. See More

These Akua Mediums are perfect for altering the creative properties of Akua Intaglio Inks and Akua Liquid Pigments. Whether you require a thinner or thicker consistency, a longer or shorter open time, or the ability to create "ghost prints", these mediums have you covered! Several of these mediums can be used with both Akua Intaglio Inks and Akua Liquid Pigments.* Blending Medium - It is used to thin ink for brushwork, wash effects or use it as a resist for viscosity monotypes. It is a clear, colorless liquid. It cleans up easily with water. This medium can be use with both Akua Liquid Pigments and Akua Intaglio Inks.* Extender - It is used to thin Akua Liquid Pigment if it has become too thick due to an extended open time. It is a thick liquid in consistency, and transparent in color. This medium can only be used with Akua Liquid Pigments.* Mag Mix (Ink Stiffener) - This medium was formerly called Mag Mix. When mixed with Akua Intaglio, this medium adds depth and stiffens the ink. It is clear/white in color with a very stiff consistency. Mag Mix cleans up easily with liquid dish detergent. This medium can only be used with Akua Intaglio Inks.* Pigment Retarder - This medium has two purposes. First, it helps transfer ink onto dry paper when a few drops are mixed into Akua Liquid Pigments. Secondly, it also extends the working time of Akua Liquid Pigments. It is a clear liquid, and cleans up easily with water. This medium can only be used with Akua Liquid Pigments.* Pigment Tack Thickener - This medium thickens Akua Liquid Pigment for heavier roll-up applications. It's consistency is not as thick as Transparent Base or Akua Intaglio ink. It is medium amber in color, has a thick consistency, and cleans up easily with soapy water. This medium can only be used with Akua Liquid Pigments.* Release Agent - This medium has three purposes. First, it is required to release Akua Liquid Pigment brushwork from plate to paper when hand-printing monotypes with the Pin Press. Second, it is used for making ghost prints. A ghost print is the second print from a monotype plate that has been inked only one time. It is a lighter version of the same image. By rolling Release Agent over the plate, it helps to transfer the remaining ink off the plate and onto another sheet of paper. Third, it helps soften the metallic ink so it can easily transfer off the plate and onto the paper. Roll Akua Release Agent over the metallic ink that was applied to the plate. It looks white in the jar but rolls up clear and colorless. It has a soft, buttery consistency and cleans up easily with liquid dish detergent. This medium can be used with Akua Intaglio Inks and Akua Liquid Pigments.* Transparent Base - This medium is Akua Intaglio Ink without the pigment. Adding Akua Liquid Pigment to Transparent Base will thicken Akua Liquid Pigment and create new intaglio or relief colors. Adding Akua Intaglio ink to this base will increase ink transparency. It is a light amber in color and has a thick consistency. This medium can be used with Akua Intaglio Inks and Akua Liquid Pigments. See More

The term “cold” in Cold Wax Medium and Cold Wax Painting refers to the fact that heat is not required for working with this wax medium – as it dries by solvent evaporation (Gamsol), rather than the cooling of the wax, as in encaustic painting. As the Gamsol evaporates out of the medium, the soft wax hardens to the density of a beeswax candle. Unlike other Gamblin painting mediums, which increase the flow and gloss of oil colors to varying degrees, Cold Wax Medium makes oil colors thicker and more matte. It has a “short” characteristic and gives a clean break off of the brush or knife, retaining the sharp peaks of impasto. These working properties allow for expressive brushmarks and the ability to carve into paint layers with palette knives. Cold Wax also gives oil colors a beautiful translucent quality, similar to the seductive surfaces of encaustic paintings. * Cold Wax - Made from natural white unbleached beeswax.* Mix directly into colors* Cold Wax creates an ultra-thick, matte impasto* For greater shine and flexibility mix with Galkyd medium* Excellent in creating a variety of textures within a painting What is Cold Wax Painting? Cold Wax Painting is any type of painting that heavily utilizes Cold Wax Medium into oil colors. In its own way, Cold Wax Painting blurs the line between oil painting and encaustic painting. Cold Wax Painting It’s a rare occurrence for one specific painting medium to have a whole genre of painting associated with it, but Cold Wax Medium is one such medium. Cold Wax Painting is not defined by subject matter nor the degree of realism or abstraction, Cold Wax Painting is unified by artists’ shared interest in experimentation, texture and the physicality of paint layers. Golden Color Pouring Medium Matte opens the door to new creative possibilities, allowing artists to create pours with a velvety matte surface. Color Pouring Medium Gloss also known as GAC 800 is an excellent medium for creating glossy pours of acrylic colors. In addition to extending colors for pouring, this versatile medium is useful for improving adhesion to chalky surfaces like plaster or weathered paint. Tips for use: * Gently mix 10 parts Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss or Matte with 1 part acrylic color, allow mixture to sit covered (ideally overnight) to eliminate air bubbles. * Pour close to the surface to reduce air bubbles. * Paintings may need to dry for a few days before moving. Do not pour thicker than 1/8” (3mm) or attempt to accelerate drying. Key Features: * Does not craze or crack * Designed to be poured in layers or puddles * 100% acrylic medium * High acrylic solids and reduced water content * Matte or glossy uniform surface * Use to adjust transparency or opacity Perfect For: * Acrylic paint * Dirty pour * Flip cup pour * Multiple color pour * Adhesion to chalky surfaces Color Pouring Medium may craze, but this is usually the result of too much paint being added and in turn, countering the acrylic solids level or the pour has been applied in too thick of a layer. This medium retains a slight cloudy quality making it a poor choice as a clear top coat or even transparent color layer. See More

The ancient art of encaustic painting is brought into the 21st century with this excellent collection of handmade encaustic grounds, mediums, and raw materials from R&F! Enhance your encaustic paintings or make your own mediums to your specifications with this selection of fantastic ingredients. * Encaustic Gesso - This water-based ground is a modern version of the traditional gesso mix of rabbit skin glue and chalk. Specially formulated for encaustic painting, with a lower proportion of acrylic binder to solids, making it a more absorbent and receptive surface for wax-based paints. A quick and easy brushable white gesso. Specially formulated white ground for encaustics. * Encaustic Medium - Perhaps the most essential encaustic supply, Encaustic Medium is a blend of beeswax and damar resin, and is used to increase transparency and extend encaustic paints. It is important to use Encaustic Medium with your paints, as using only beeswax will reduce stability and produce a bloom on the painting that is only removable with heat. Available in either block or pellet form. Increases transparency and extends encaustic paints. * Impasto Modeling Wax - This heavy body wax medium is made from a mix of microcrystalline wax and beeswax. It is excellent for thick structural application, casting, carving, layering, and modeling. As Impasto Wax has a higher melting point than Encaustic Medium, you can apply standard encaustics over it without easily blunting sculptural shapes. Use for thick encaustic paint application and sculptural styles. * Damar Resin Crystals - A hard, clear resin from deciduous trees, Damar Resin Crystals are used to create encaustic mediums and paints. When mixed with beeswax, damar resin creates an encaustic binder that is stronger and more durable than beeswax alone, and also serves to raise the melting point of the wax. Damar is also used to create traditional oil painting mediums and varnishes. * White Beeswax (Pellets) - This natural beeswax has been whitened by mechanical filtration, instead of standard chemical bleaching, which can lead to negative pigment reactions and break wax down. Use White Beeswax as an ingredient in creating encaustic mediums and paints, along with Damar Resin, or as an initial priming layer for paper or board. Note that beeswax used alone in encaustics (without damar) is not as stable and is apt to bloom (become foggy). Use with damar resin to create encaustic paints and mediums. * Soy Wax (Pellets) - Made from partially hydrogenated soybean oil, Soy Wax is an environmentally friendly choice for cleaning encaustic brushes and tools. Unlike paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum products, Soy Wax is non-toxic, biodegradable, and made from an easily renewable resource. Use melted Soy Wax to remove color from painting materials, then wash tools or brushes in soapy water. Eco-friendly cleaning wax. See More

DANIEL SMITH Oil Mediums allow artists to extend their oil paints… Improve transparency and gloss! Painting with buttery oils requires a medium that helps alter paint consistency for color mixing, blending, and glazing. DANIEL SMITH Oil mediums improve transparency and gloss and, depending on the formula, can decrease drying time. DANIEL SMITH Oil Mediums allow artists to extend their oil paints and waste less paint; this is especially true with DANIEL SMITH Original Oils, which are highly pigmented. With DANIEL SMITH Oil Mediums, you can expand the value of your highly pigmented paint event farther! Key Features: * Accelerate or slow drying time * Improve transparency and gloss * Outstanding working properties * Extend oil paints and use less paint * Available in 3 different sizes Perfect For: * Traditional oil paints * Blending and glazing * Maintaining consistency * Preserving gloss * Speeding up drying time * Increasing the flow of oil paint Refined Linseed Oil- Its capacity to add gloss and transparency and yield a tough, strong paint film has made linseed oil the most conventional binder in oil paint for centuries. It may cause some yellowing with age. Cold-Pressed Linseed Oil- The simplest form of natural oil, cold-pressed linseed oil, is lighter in color and yellows less than hot pressed or solvent extracted oils. DANIEL SMITH Cold-pressed Linseed Oil also creates a stronger film. Stand Oil– Stand oil, thicker than Linseed oil, prompts oil colors to gradually self-level as they dry, leaving minimal brush strokes. Stand oil is an inappropriate vehicle for making oil paint, but it makes an outstanding painting and glazing medium when diluted with turpentine and damar varnish. It yields a tough paint film without the yellowing tendencies of refined linseed oil. Available in 8oz. See More -
