For many years, brush makers have worked to find a synthetic that could imitate Kolinsky Red Sable hair. This research has taken a long time because of the intricate nature of sable, which is very rare and expensive. Da Vinci has finally cracked the code with their Colineo Watercolor Brushes. The Da Vinci Colineo Series 5522 Synthetic Kolinsky Brush, Size 4 Round is made with a balanced blend of different lengths of straight and wavy synthetic fibers. These fibers have extra fine tips that taper to a point and mimic natural sable. At the same time, the Colineo brushes have a lot of spring and are highly absorbent. All these features help Colineo give a convincing imitation of Red Sable hair.
