Master Quality Archival Stretched Canvas! Superb Performance And Color Retention! Exclusive OP Enhanced Oil Priming!

As an oil painter, it is important to work on oil primed surfaces. First, oil on oil will provide the best chemical bond for the paint layers that go on, afterwards. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth, silky but flabby at time I am an intermediate/senior intermediate oil painter. The surface of these canvases is smooth and good under a good brush (not good for an old or stiff brush) but I have found both sizes that I bought (11x14 and 16X20) to get flabby when I am painting -- it seems to tighten up later in the session in the studio. Latent Florida humidity corrected perhaps when the AC kicks into high gear?? Nevertheless the surface is flawless.

Excellent quality and construction, but a few "nubbies" within the canvas which had to be removed and sometimes they are stubborn to eliminate, not to mention time consuming when you are in a painting grove and don't need the interuption.

Very pleased with the "feel" of the surface. Only drawback is that occasionally one will warp or twist slightly, but that is also common with all others I've tried.

are these canvases suitable for acrylics?

No, Deluxe Professional Oil Primed Linen Stretched Canvas Centurion (OP DLX) are primed for oil paint only and will not work as a support for acrylic paint. I would suggest that you look for a universal acrylic primed canvas that is prepared for acrylic paint. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Is .67 comparable in depth to 7/8 or 3/8. I don’t want a thicker canvas than 7/8

Is the oil ground primer lead, titanium, or zinc?

The primer is formulated from alkyd resin, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate – titanium dioxide gives opacity, while calcium carbonate gives a tooth for strong adhesion. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi! Can I put regular gesso on top of oil primer? Or will it crack? Thank you!

No, you cannot and absolutely should not apply regular acrylic gesso on top of an oil primed surface because the acrylic gesso will crack.
