Claessens universal primed linen rolls are the ideal choice when using an array of different media types!
Claessens line of canvas types, currently spans out to 25 different canvases. Their canvas rolls provide artists with optimal professional quality in materials, craftsmanship, elasticity and painting surfaces. For universal primed canvases, they apply a film of synthetic glue to the cloth. This protects it against the acids in oil paint and
gives it a much longer life. The glue also makes the cloth smoother and stronger. Next, Claessens apply a second layer of glue. They dry the cloth in a dry-air oven after each layer. Then they coat the fabric with a primer. Universal primed linen rolls undergo two layers of titanium white-based primer.
Because this primer is water based, these canvases can be dried in the dry-air oven, where the water
can evaporate more quickly. The next stage is to sand the fabric gently with a sanding roller. Finally, the primer layer is followed by a second layer of paint known as "the coating". Claessens linen rolls undergo a rigorous process of quality control and series of precise steps. They are of fine-art quality and are the perfect choice for artists who stretch their own canvases.
Claessens canvases carry a unique reference number system. Universal primed canvases are identifiable by their reference number's prefix number of 1(e.g. 109 and 166). Claessens universal primed canvases allow for 50% absorbency and are suitable for all media types.
