In this DVD Carol Ann Sherman shares with you the necessary information to master the application of watercolor on Yupo. The initial underpainting will help create a synergy throughout the painting. She will combine many methods of creating exciting textures with stamping, stenciling, lifting, rubbing and even application with a plain old brush! This process allows you to do a watercolor painting with a dark to light or light to dark pattern. It will be as much about what you remove from the paint as it is about what you add. "Skillet Batik" - 110 minutes
In this creative and informative instructional DVD Carol Ann shows the process from beginning to end of painting a vibrant, fresh and rich looking watercolor batik on rice paper. It is a method derived from a combination of old batik ideas with some newer more contemporary techniques. It is a process using an electric skillet, rice specialty papers, watercolors, canning wax, and an iron. Then Carol Ann will demonstrate multiple ways to mount the finished batik. The information in this lesson is a combination of design, line, color and reserved whites and lights. The technical information shared begins with transferring your drawing onto the rice paper and keeping the process manageable. This step by step demonstration allows you to work along with Carol Ann as she explains the process.
