Williamsburg Pure Beeswax medium is made from 100% natural, bleached beeswax. Williamsburg Pure Beeswax Blocks and Pellets are useful for altering sheen of mediums and varnishes, or as an additive when making oil paint. In oil painting, beeswax can be added in a small amount to slow the drying, reduce yellowing, create a more buttery paint consistency, improve the stability of the paint, and make it more suitable for impasto effects. It can also be blended with oils, resins, and diluents to create an oil medium, giving a matting or satin effect. In Encaustic painting, beeswax is the chief binding medium with pigment.
