3D creation doesn’t absolutely require a class or prior know-how-- but the vast amount of supplies can sometimes be daunting or incredibly confusing if you haven’t. Good directions or trained know-how guidance can help you make the proper purchases, to make your foray into the world of sculpture fun and satisfying. In this second part episode, we will take the overviewed products we discussed in JL169 and firsthand the uses and some artwork created with them. We will discuss customizing armatures to your needs, and how to properly pack and apply clay to an armature for a firm foundation, as well as cover clay modeling tools and how they work to add, shape, or even remove clay. Since sculptures using an armature cannot be fired, we will discuss how to make molds where a duplicate (or duplicates) can be cast of the original sculpture. Additionally, we will show more ways mesh can be used for projects, and how to activate and use plaster bandages for sculpture means.
