Date/Time: Wednesday, November 11, 2020, 9 am - 12 pm. Contrary to popular belief, it's not that easy to paint an eye catching abstract with watercolor. There is a lot more to an abstract painting than just throwing paint on a canvas or piece of paper in the hope that something wonderful will emerge. Instead, it takes a plan, at least to get things started. In this three-hour workshop you will learn the basic concepts and theories of abstraction from internationally renowned watercolor artist Sterling Edwards who is quite well known for his watercolor abstracts. This information packed workshop will focus on finding inspiration for a painting, building a strong composition, creating a multitude of textures, saving white paper, building dynamic dark's to create drama, layering positive and negative shapes, and so much more. Sterling will also teach how to paint with the large stiff bristle brushes that he designed himself for achieving beautiful washes of color, softening edges, and creating exciting textures. If you have struggled with abstract painting or maybe you're ready to try something new and exciting, then this is the workshop for you. See for yourself why Sterling Edwards is one of the most sought-after watercolor instructors in the U.S. This workshop is for all skill levels, however; previous drawing and watercolor experience is always beneficial. Miscellaneous tools and accessories you will need for the workshop: Drawing Pad, Pencil, Roll of toilet tissue, Roll of paper towels, box of facial tissue, A kneaded eraser or soft art eraser, Handheld hairdryer, Reference photos, Two containers for water, Mounting board for your loose paper, 1" Masking Tape
