Date/Time: Thursday, 11/12 - 9am - 12pm. Mississippi artist Carol Roark has a passion for Plein air painting. She believes working on location is the first best step for a studio piece. Constant study in Plein air increases one’s visual knowledge while bringing awareness to the shortcomings of relying strictly on photographs. Looking at a vast landscape can be quite intimidating, but Carol urges students to let go of their fear and keep their expectations low. In this workshop, she will teach students how to get comfortable with Plein air by practicing multiple small studies in color as well as in black and white. While enjoying full immersion in the landscape, Carol encourages Plein air as a form of information gathering only, not expecting a finished painting.
