Rated 5 out of 5 by from Non-Toxic! SoySolv II is one of the better solvents that can be easily adapted for use by any artist. Many solvents—such as brush cleaners—are made with volatile organic chemicals which are highly toxic to people, pets, and kids. Finding alternatives is pretty easy, but finding a good alternative that actually works is often difficult. This is one of those products that works admirably, is reasonably priced, and relatively safe to use. If you're wondering, I use this product to remove hard ground and ink from etching and aquatint plates.

I have had a very hard time removing labels off some bottles and have tried just about everything. Then I was turned on to SoySolv. This stuff works. Problem solved. Highly recommended for this type of application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Turpenoid! I'm an oil painting artist and have been using this stuff for a few years now. In fact, this is all I use. I was ordering soysolve strait from its manufacturer and didn't know until now that I can get it by the gallon from Jerry's! When I run out, I'm ording it through Jerry's. I love this stuff!!! It is great! Environmentally safe. I go for eco friendly stuff. I'm trying to live green as much as I can. Being an artist you have to find ways to keep yourself safe and healthy, and the environment around you-your studio, your family, pets, even the water systems. You can even pour this stuff down the drain without any worries! Surpriseingly it is made of soybeans. It gets all the gunk out of my brushes in a snap, and has no horrid smell like turpenoid or turpentine which i can't stand. This stuff has just about no smell! I only buy oil paint that is AP non toxic, and with this stuff, I'm all set!

Can this be used as a brush cleaner during the painting process between colors or just after finishing and cleaning up?

Soysolve is aggressive and non-drying, and it doesn't belong in the paint, which is where it will go if it is used to rinse brushes between colors. You should only use the Soysolv ii at the very end of the painting session. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Can this be used as an oil paint medium ?

Soysolv II can be used as an oil brush cleaner it is not usable as a straight medium that you would apply to your oil painting. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
