New York Central® Munich Premier Brushes are a scientific breakthrough in brushes created for greater control and resiliency than traditional hog hair bristle brushes. Hog brushes have been relied on by artists for thousands of years. Natural hog hair has not changed, but we have made advancements in how the hair is treated and prepared. Each strand of Munich hog hair goes through our state-of-the-art process before we blend it with our proprietary synthetic filament. The natural and synthetic hairs are interlocked and cupped within nickel-plated steel ferrules. Quick and spontaneous strokes come out naturally from these springy bristles, and their natural flagged ends are great for laying down color.

The blending of two types of hair to improve performance in bristle brushes
Modern artists use everything from thin inks to thick acrylics and oils. Our brush makers worked tirelessly to create a brush that you could use with any paint. To do this they blended natural hog with synthetic hair. The result is a brush for use with all media. Unlike traditional bristle brushes, these can be cleaned with soap and water without altering their spring and bounce. You can depend on the bristles to hold lots of color. Their spring allows for quick and spontaneous strokes, and their flagged tip ends allow you to precisely lay down color.
Each brush is hand cupped and fitted inside nickel-plated steel ferrules, which are varnished, making them super rust resistant. The long triple lacquered wood handles have a balanced feel for easel painting.
