Fabriano Artistico uses cotton balls instead of stretched and beaten cotton fibers, as in other brands, for consistent and even water absorption across the surface. This construction also provides a more robust and durable surface that can take a lot of punishment, whether it be scrubbing, erasing, or any other standard watercolor technique.
No animal by-products are used in the sizing. The internal and external sizing produces a more consistent, non-yellowing, non-smelling, more resilient non-scuffing surface with no blotchy spots. The paper also has an overall superior color-lifting response due to the sizing used.
