Just like Cobra colors, these mediums mix cleanly with water, and are great additives for techniques from glazing and layering to alla prima and impasto. - Painting Medium – This viscous medium makes Cobra oils smoother and fatter, eliminating brushstrokes without lengthening the drying time of the paint film. Also adds a universal sheen and increases color transparency. Perfect for use in layering and alla prima (wet-on-wet) techniques.
- Glazing Medium – This fluid medium improves the flow of Cobra oil paints and increases their transparency, making it perfect for luminous glazing techniques. As this medium has a high oil content, it should only be used in the final few layers of a painting, following the "fat over lean" rule.
- Painting Paste – This is a heavy-bodied medium similar in consistency to Cobra oils, making it essentially a colorless paint. Perfect for adding bulk in impasto techniques or decreasing color intensity for alla prima painting. Can be mixed with Cobra oil colors in any ratio, but the more Painting Medium added, the lower the color intensity will become.
- Odorless Varnish Spray – These non-yellowing varnishes come in convenient spray cans for easy application. When applied to a thoroughly dry (between 6-12 months) painting, they will protect against aging and environmental pollutants, while unifying the sheen of the piece. Removable with mineral spirits; available in Gloss, Satin, and Matte finishes.
