Start With Jacquard Encaustic Medium Pellets
Made with a blend of white filtered beeswax and damar resin. The pellets are easy to measure and melt. Damar resin raises the wax's melting temperature and helps it harden. At the same time, it reduces wax bloom on finished paintings. Use it on its own for collage techniques, or mix it with encaustic paints.
Mix Your Own Encaustic Medium
White Beeswax: These filtered beeswax granules are the main ingredient for encaustic paint. When mixed with damar resin beeswax becomes harder, more translucent, and dust-repellent. You can also buff the beeswax to a satin finish once it's combined with damar resin.
Damar Resin Crystals: Natural tree resin used to harden beeswax for encaustic painting. Because damar is in its raw state, it must be melted with beeswax and strained to remove impurities.
Yellow Beeswax Block: 100% pure refined beeswax used for batik, candle making, and crafts. Its flexibility produces less crackle in batik applications.
Paraffin Wax Flakes: Paraffin Wax is brittle and will flake when used alone for batik. Artists pair it with Microcrystalline Wax to avoid flaking. You can also use the hot wax to clean encaustic brushes.
