Jacquard Alum Marbling Pre Treatment - 1 lb Bag

Alum is used to pretreat paper or fabric before marbling. The Alum helps the pattern transfer clearly from the marbling bath to the surface. This step prepares the fibers to receive the design, helping colors bond to the paper or fabric during printing. Alum is also used as a mordant with some natural dyes.

    Basic Mixing Ratios

Fabric Marbling: Dissolve 2 teaspoons (10 g) Alum in 1 gallon of warm water. Soak the fabric, wring it out, and allow the fabric to dry before marbling.

Paper Marbling: Dissolve 2 teaspoons (10 g) Alum in 1 quart of water and apply lightly to paper. Allow paper to dry before marbling.
