Rated 5 out of 5 by PerfectionEstablished from brilliant vibrant colors I have had the pleasure of using these liquid watercolors in my college art class, i am 17 years old and am a beginner overall but i am skilled with watercolor. these watercolor paints are well concentrated, which means saturation control is easy and you can really get a light wash without dullness. you can also, even with adding water to it, still keep a very high concentration of color, the liquids are smooth and last a very long time due to such high quality and concentration, i have yet to work with tube watercolors, but i prefer these to the caked ones, simply because it is easier to mix the colors and you are not limited when it comes to transportation. the tray they come in also has round cut outs in the bottom so you can change it from its laying on the side position to standing upright when in use. overall, excellent buy, all you need is two or three drops of paint and you're good for a while... i highly recommend these watercolors. and i would say go with set one to begin with, and expand from there...

There is nothing better, the colors are vibrant, easy to use, and convenient. I have my own tube watercolors, but will eventually be switching completely over to these.They are great.

What is the difference between the Hydrus product and the Concentrated Radiant Watercolor product?

Thank you for contacting us. Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Water Color is dye based, non-clogging, transparent, and non-toxic. In comparison, Hydrus colors are pigment based, acid-free, lightfast, mixable, non-clogging, transparent, and non-toxic. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

are these permanent?

Yes, the colors are permanent once dried on paper. The paints are water soluble and can be cleaned up from a table with a wet washcloth. Hydrus is lightfast, transparent, fine art quality watercolor in a glass bottle. This liquid product delivers the same brilliance and permanency as traditional tube watercolors. Made from the finest artist pigments, Hydrus watercolors can be blended and intermixed while still maintaining the transparency and luminosity of the colors.

No, the colors in the sets cannot be changed. You can view the colors available in each set by clicking on the yellow T icon listed beside the price of the set.
