Rich in pigment, tender but not crumbly, velvety application!
Blockx Soft Pastels have been handmade in Belgium using the same pure pigments since chemist Jacques Blockx founded the company in 1844. The Blockx family has continued to combine traditional methods with modern chemistry to create pure, lightfast, and stable colors.
Blockx Soft Pastels possess suburb tinting strength and can be used on any surface, but work best on pastel paper. Each pastel is wrapped individually, which keeps the pastel clean until you are ready to use it. You can quickly and easily cover a wide surface area with the dry pastel color, which is also perfect for water-soluble techniques.

Blockx color codes pastels to make it easy for artists to choose the exact shades they need. For example, Red Ochre's five shades are: Red Ochre 211, Red Ochre 212, Red Ochre 213, Red Ochre 214, and Red Ochre 215.
If the color name ends in:
- 1 — the pure color is upgraded with black
- 2 — this is the pure color
- 3 — the pure color is tinted with white
- 4 — the pure color is tinted with more white
- 5 — the pure color is tinted with much more white
