Immediately after use, the paint or varnish should be thoroughly rinsed out with the appropriate solvent..." -Ralph Mayer, the Artist's Handbook How To Use Lavender Brush Cleaner CCS Lavender Brush Cleaner™ can be used in the same way other cleaners are used: Rinse the brush with it during painting session to remove paint from brush, and thoroughly clean your brush in it after painting to remove paint and medium. We recommend using a natural oil based soap and warm water afterwards to complete the brush cleaning, moisturize the brush hairs and help preserve them. Ventilation: All essential oils/solvents should be used appropriately and with ventilation and common sense usage. Skin contact: As with all essential oils, you should always avoid skin contact, especially if you have skin issues. Skin contact for some people will not cause any problems, but because of the high concentration please be aware and take precautions when using Spike Oil or any other solvents. Allergies: Spike Lavender, in rare cases can be considered an allergen, as are many essential oils like Tea Tree Oil, etc. So all products containing Spike (the solvent, mediums and varnishes) see warnings regarding safety and clear directions for usage. The main reason this solvent is considered “safer” is because there are no known carcinogens or a lot of the health issues associated with Turpentine or Petroleum Mineral Spirits. However, like with all solvents when used in oil painting, you should have ventilation and limit skin contact. See More
