After 30 years of storing supplies on a variety of tables strewn about my workspace, I became convinced that there must be a better way.

The Todd Reifers Signature Workstation is not just another taboret made of plywood and designed by a non-artist with no insight into the need for function. I knew my needs, but also surveyed other artists. For example, many artists paint in a spare bedroom or other area open to viewing by family and guests. They expressed the need for a workstation that appears to be another piece of furniture when not in use. Many who paint in a large studio said they need a logical way to get organized. Regardless of where the artist paints, there was a common concern to contain those offensive fumes from oil paints. I combined these concepts with my own to create an attractive, functional workstation to serve as the perfect companion to an easel. After extensive use of the workstation's prototype, I found that it performs far better than any other system with everything at my fingertips in one easily movable location. Rated 3 out of 5 by kebree from Decent design; cheap materials used in places. I've been using this for about two years now. The large shallow drawer and palette cover are nice features, but I was surprised to see that the (unfinished) wood used on the doors doesn't match the rest of the taboret. (It's a pinkish, very thin panel.) The panel on the door to the trash bin has partially cracked. Like others, I also wish the trash bin didn't take up half the cabinet. It's an inefficient use of space. And the cheap plastic on the paper towel holder makes me nervous every time I adjust it for a new roll. ("Will it break this time?") I like that the Reifer taboret does hide art supplies out of sight, but I wish I'd taken my husband up on his offer to build one rather than buying this.

It's a cabinet for supplies, a place for your roll of paper towels, a huge palette with cover, and a pull-out trash can. I had a 15X30" piece of lucite made to put on the palette for easy clean-up. When the cover is on the palette, it's nice and large for placing my pastel boxes. And it rolls, nicely. The only thing I would change is to get rid of the trash can, because a full one-half of the storage space is taken-up by it. They should put some metal rails on the side-bottom, which could hold a normal trash can, or just let me use my own and get more interior storage.

It seems right handed due to the location of the paper towel dispenser. You do give up half of the under cabinet space for the trash can, but I was mostly wanting it to easily cover up the tubes of paint and other items I like to leave out when working on a painting. For those who care it is manufactured in China, but what isn't these days. Solid construction, good fit edges. Moves when you want it to but heavy enough to stay put when you don't. If you paint in the same space you live you'll really like this workstation for it's looks. [...]

Rated 4 out of 5 by Retired 'n lovin it from GREAT ARTIST TOOL, BUT I WISH... I really like this artist cabinet. It's well made and attractive. I like that it has a lid that covers the top, which I use as a palette. I had a piece of safety glass made for the top and it's big and the lid covers it. I only wish it didn't have the pull-out trash container. When you look at the photograph with the two front doors, only one works. The other covers the trash compartment. That cuts the storage area inside by half! I have my own metal trash container and don't need the built-in one. Also, I wish the paper towel holder were metal instead of breakable plastic. As I said, I do like it, anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Olivia the running/painting mom from Working perfect for me! I received this table from my husband for Christmas. I love it it finally gives me my own space to do my artwork. The garbage can area may better serve as storage space and would probably be better as more cupboard space. However this is more than made up for with the lid that can cover the work area. Thus allowing me to close the lid and come back later to what I was doing, important for a mom. I think he got it on sale but it is officially the best piece of furniture I own.
