Rated 4 out of 5 by mj2801 from good easel Very good easel. Because I paint on panels I especially like the flat surface. The only reason I give it four stars is because you need to tighten the leg bolts with pliers, otherwise the legs slip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Aman from Good value Need artwork in my home so I decided to paint my own canvases and I needed an easel. Looked at all sources and found the Safari 2 French Easel to be what I was looking for. I set it up in my family room with northern lighting from large windows. I found it easy to set up but needed pliers to tighten brass hardware so everything would stay in place, finger tightening doesn't work. Once assembled, it was just what I needed and expected. I have a friend retiring in November and I plan to buy her one with lots of supplies. She'll love it!

Because I didn't find any setup instructions enclosed in the box, I watched a short video on how to put together a French easel ~ this made setup super easy! Once I got past that hurdle, I found the easel to be really good. It's quite adjustable as far as height, the tilt of the board on which you are resting your artwork (I had my own board already), etc. It's not heavy, so is easy to transport. You do have to be sure to tighten all the gadgets so that it stays firmly in place. But once you do, it is terrific. Very happy with my purchase!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by TaskMaster from Dependable friend I bought this easel for the fact that it has a flat surface, unlike most other easels. As a amateur artist I primarily paint on canvas boards with oils. The boards lay nicely on the flat surface. It's tough, I'm fairly rough with it and it has held up very well. The safari 2 has the perfect balance of storage capacity, compact size and durability.
