Watercolorists have always loved Mongoose hair not for the color of its hair but for the special properties this hair has!
Mongoose hair is stronger than sable or squirrel. This reduces the wear and tear on textured watercolor surfaces and reduces the breaking of the ends of hair that can wear off and get into paintings when using hairs such as squirrel. Mongoose is absorbent but not bloating like squirrel this allows for a more controlled stroke and is a great compromise between squirrel and synthetic brushes.
Like with all soft hair brushes Vemeer brushes hold color well and allow for even lay down in the finest detail to vivid washes. With the absence of choices in liner choices the Vemeer liner will get you more color than a synthetic and a nice natural feel and long line.
Vemeer allows you to combine the practical nature of each natural hair. Staying strictly with natural hair you will find that no matter which hair you use, the delivery of color is more consistent and longer due to the ability of hair to absorb moisture.
