The four mediums in the box below have been specifically designed to interact with the Atelier Interactive product line. Of course, you can still use all the standard mediums/additives (matte medium, impasto gel, clear painting medium, etc.) with Interactive as well. Just be aware, however, that the use of these mediums will cut down the open time.
| Unlocking Formula - When adding moisture won't open the paint or when the paint becomes touch dry, simply spray a little unlocking formula and the paint will rewet and you can continue. Fast Medium/Fixer - Just add a little to the paint when you want to aggressively scratch or scrape so as not to pull up the layer.
Slow Medium - Just add a little when you want to thin the viscosity, and have the acrylic remain open for extended periods of time.
Thick Slow Medium - Just add a little when you want to maximize the viscosity, and have the acrylic remain open for an extended period of time. |
Clear Painting Medium - As the most popular medium in acrylic painting, it is used with the paint to dilute the viscosity and blend colors without losing pigment intensity. This medium allows paint to spread over a surface for more blendable gradations of color and fast glazing techniques. It is especially useful for working wet-in-dry techniques.
Liquifying Medium - A water-based, low viscosity, acrylic extender designed to provide the most efficient means to reducing paint viscosity while maintaing maximum coverage power. When added to Atelier Acrylics, it creates the best possible medium for applications including airbrushing and fine detailed line work.
Impasto Gel - A thick, fast drying, water-based acrylic gel designed to exaggerate structure and sharpen textural edges of the paint. Impasto gel also increases the gloss level of the paint. It can also be used as an adhesive to bond other materials to the painting.
Modeling Compound - A very thick textural paste used for exaggerating structure. Modeling compound has the same flexibility as Atelier paints and is used to create strong textural interest at any stage in a painting's process. It dries white and can be mixed with paint to produce a colored ground or painted over once dry.
Retarder - This slows down the drying process when added to acrylics and mediums. Interactive Retarder is particularly useful when painting wet-over-wet or wet-over-dry techniques.
Black Drawing Ink - It may be used as supplied or diluted with water. Washes can be made from intense black through pale mid tone grey according to water addition. It is ideal for brush or pen. Note: Dilute 1:1 for pen work.
