Traditional and modern varnishes to protect your art!

Varnishing your finished oil paintings is a vital final step in the creative process! Varnishes protect your artwork from atmospheric acids, dust and decay, as well as unifying the overall sheen of the finished piece into a cohesive whole. All final varnishes should only be applied to paintings that are completely dry: in the case of oil paints, this means allowing at least 6 months to a year for the paint to oxidize before applying a varnish. The finest varnishes are also reversible, meaning they can be carefully removed with solvents for restoration purposes, without damaging the paint film below. I've been looking for a varnish that's not glossy, and not matte for a couple years and when I saw this in the store I had to try it. Perfect. Fumes are immense, as with all varnishes, so make sure you use this in some sort of garage or place with lots of ventilation. Would not recommend varnishing in a closed studio space. It dries really fast too, so work quickly. Dried with a perfect satin finish! Not too glossy, and not too matte! Very, very happy.
