Winsor & Newton: The World's Finest Artists' Materials

175 years of fine art supplies — on sale now!

Chances are, if you're an artist, you're familiar with Winsor & Newton — and for good reason! This world-famous company produces some of the finest and most popular art supplies available in the industry: from paints and mediums to canvas, brushes, paper, and everything in between!

Winsor & Newton was founded in England in 1832, a collaboration between artistic-minded Henry Newton and scientific William Winsor, who combined their individual expertise to craft some of the finest colors in the form of oil paints and watercolors. Among the first companies to make use of and develop the metal paint tube, Winsor & Newton soon rose to the top in terms of popularity, and it was with their help (and portable paint tubes!) that allowed artists to get out of the studio and into the field. They even crafted fine art materials for Queen Victoria!

Over the next 175 years, Winsor & Newton has remained in the forefront of art materials, honing and developing both artists' and student grade colors, paintbrushes, canvases, watercolor paper, and more — all of which are among the most recognizable in the world today! High quality is the Winsor & Newton catchphrase, and you know when using their materials that you are backed by almost two centuries of tradition and innovation.

When I began college in 1967, my father gave me a blank check for art supplies. Little did he know that a tube of every oil color made by Winsor & Newton would be  the first thing to go into my shopping basket! Colors like rose dore and indian yellow still live on in my mind. I learned to paint with these sublime materials. Who says the student should begin with student grade materials? The inspiration that I experienced through using these  wonderful paints where each color has its own character was the beginning of my career as an artist.

I recommend using Winsor& Newton Watercolor Paints, because of the excellent pigment  and value range I recieve with this brand.   I use to purchase cheaper brands of paints to save on money.  But I found in the long run, I bought more tubes of paint, because I couldn't get the rich colors or make my dark areas dark enough the way I can with my Winsor & Newton Watercolors.   Plus, when I layer my transparent colors, they make an excellent shade of different colors, and the other brands I would get an awful dull or muddy look, because I would have to paint way to many layers to achieve the value of darks I was striving for.
I rate Winsor & Newton to be  THE BEST BRAND OF WATERCOLOR PAINTS ON THE MARKET!  Saying that, my Palette is full of Winsor & Newton Watercolor Paints ONLY!
Thank you Winsor& Newton for making my painting time more fun with these excellent colors.

Happy Painting
