Street Art Tutorial with Miles Wickham

Looking back at all the frustration I went through learning how to do graffiti on my own, discovering techniques incrementally over a course of 10 years, I felt that maybe I could help shorten that time for others by sharing some things I have learned. Over the years I’ve come across many graffiti artists who end up focusing their time on street tagging rather than practicing their art  because their artistic skills are minimal, and lots of them, when they get arrested, or real life starts to kick in at a certain age, end up quitting all forms of art altogether. Because I focused lots of time on the artistic aspect, I was able to change directions when maturity kicked in.

I figured I could share some basic tools to keep artists inspired to take the journey for the long run, and it seems to be working! From this series of videos I have posted on YOUTUBE, I have received so many positive responses and followers, its been a really incredible surprise. Its not unusual for someone now to tell me I have the most clear and to-the-point graffiti-related tutorials, that I should make more, and that they are truly inspired! See for yourself what the hype is about. Its honestly a bit of a push for me to go from the graffiti street tagger badass who faced doing 1 year in jail, to being seen as the “good guy” who is “giving away secrets”. I sometimes sense some fear in myself in being in the graffiti-public’s eye. But I know that the cause is greater than the risk. And risks are to be taken if growth is desired!

I have done my best to make these videos interesting to the general public with the editing, music, and  speech. They are all filmed and edited by me, and most of the music is by a good friend of mine, Dorian Lopez, a.k.a. Denzity Beats.
For those who don’t know much about graffiti, when someone says “graffiti” it does not insinuate illegal tagging. The word for that is “tagging” or “bombing”. I intend these videos to be used for artistic purposes, not vandalism. I don’t think anyone should put themselves through the trouble I did 4 years ago just to get some notoriety and adrenaline rushes, although sometimes one needs the good things taken away to really develop an appreciation and value for it.
Here is the first video. In it I explain how to use acrylics and brushes to create graffiti.

Look on the right hand side bar to see “more from this user”, which will give you a list of all my videos.
