Jerry’s in the Community
The members of the ChromaZones are Triangle area artists that specialize in abstract art. Each of the artists brings to the group unique qualities but all share a common goal of celebrating and promoting the Triangle area’s visual arts community. The group originally came together during a charity fund raising effort and promotion of the 2009 Raleigh SPARKcon celebration.
Members of the ChromaZones are: Craig Burt, Marianne Conti Burt, Allen Clapp, Jillian Goldberg, Larry James, Sarah Mantel, Cheryl McCardle, John P. McFadden, Sys Oppenlander, Constance Pappalardo, Carol Joy Shannon, Mary Storms, Juley Striegel, Domingo Vega, and Rebecca Worters.
The ChromaZones’ most recent work is a 15-piece collaborative painting that will be donated to the Aids Alliance annual art auction, “Works of Heart” 2010. The 16 x 20 artist stretched canvases were donated by Jerry’s Artarama, Bob Rankin designed the piece, and fifteen artists painted the individual panels to create the larger presentation.
“We know there are pros and cons to these projects – but we are having a great time doing this and last year the proceeds went 50/50 to VAE and to St. Baldric Childhood Cancer Foundation. This year we made this one and we have one more planned for VAE’s “For the Love of Art” auction in February 2011.
A the moment, “Filet of Soul” is exhibited at Port City Java on Fayetteville St. in Raleigh and will stay up until the auction in October. There will be a write-up on this and The ChromaZones in the September – October issue of Artsee magazine.”
