Losing Steam by Heather Goldstein

When I graduated last December and started my job full-time here at Jerry's, I was beyond motivated to make it work.  I had read somewhere that something like 90% of art school graduates do not create any art in the 2 years after graduation.  That was not going to be me!  I left school feeling refreshed and motivated about life, my job, and expecially my art.  So here it is, October 11, and I have seen my art take the back seat. Using Impasto Medium to Create Three Dimensional Effects by Micah Mullen

In depicting elements in nature relief effects give a 3-dimensional effect that really makes the paint “pop” right off the canvas.  In this painting technique I am using Matisse Structure paint (Carbon Grey) along with Matisse Impasto Medium to create tree bark.Step 1:  I mix a ratio of about 30% paint with 70% Impasto Medium.  Make sure the mixture is throughly mixed (I use a palette knife) when complete the mixture should be the color of the paint. Goals of the Heart by Cheryl Whitestone

Yes it may seem like a ridiculous goal to have chickens (particularly as an adult), but I have had a secret desire to someday have chickens. Last year I realized that goal. As an artist my goals have always been to be a great painter which is, in my estimation, able to capture light and the true feel of a place. Another goal was to make a living at this profession. Fortunately I have and am making a living with my art, and in lean times art has taught me how to stretch a dollar.
