I have to say that the Phenomenon Shell Paper is pretty amazing. Before the paper arrived, I had planned to use the Matisse Structure Paint on it to create an abstract layered painting. But when it arrived and I realized it was not a heavy thick paper, I expected the paint to be too much for the paper to handle.

I did like the texture of the shell paper. It would be great fun to use it in paper collage art. And it is also nice for adding to the texture of the design you are painting. In spite of the texture, the paper has a very smooth feel to touch. It comes in very nice soft colors that will stir your creative energy. You can purchase a pack of your favorite color or you can choose a package that will give you multiple pages of each color. That’s my favorite package.
So, I jumped into this project going in the originally planned direction to use the Matisse Structure Acrylic Paint on the Phenomenon Shell Paper. But I expected the structure paint to be too heavy for the light shell paper. I expected negative reactions from the paper to that much paint and that much moisture. But amazingly there was none. I laid several layers of paint down on this paper. Never did it buckle. Never did it wrinkle. And now that the layers of paint are complete and dry, the condition of the paper is just as fresh as before I started. I have to say that I am quite impressed. And I am looking forward to continuing to explore how I might use this Phenomenon Shell Paper with my various art supplies. I hope you will try it. I think you will be very pleased.
