The World of Fakes, Forgeries and Trickery by M Theresa Brown

Sometimes, in the course of creating art, it's fun to put down the paintbrush and delve into the little known realms of art history. I did just that when I came across an excellent article on "Varsity," an online publication from Cambridge University in the UK. The article "Faking it" is a well written and enlightening take on the world of forgeries and fakes in the Art world. Tim Burton Exhibit at MoMA by Heather Goldstein

The Museum of Modern Art opened a comprehensive retrospective of Tim Burton's work from childhood until now on November 22, 2009. The exhibit will remain open until April 26, 2010 and it is still busy with viewers eager to see Burton's progression as an artist. This past weekend, I was one of those fans.I got to the museum with my dad this past Sunday soon after the museum opened and waited in line to buy tickets to this exhibit. We got tickets for 1:00 pm. Confessions of a Non-Artist

  Scared, frightened, afraid are just a few of many words that describe my first trip to an art museum. Me, being a non-artist, couldn't help but to feel out of place. My interpretation of art is total different from someone that is familiar with the arts. For a piece of work I would call pretty, an artist might call it engaging. For what I might call disturbing, an artist would call it intriguing. For a piece of work I might feel I could do, an artist might call it a "Pollock."
